History of Vettiyanickal Family
Due to the wake of the Mysore invasion, many traders of Malabar also planed to leave their home place as well as their rulers they did, mean time they come to know that, the Maharaja Dharma Raja (1758 - 1798) who succeeded Maharaja Marthanda Varma, placed Kottayam in a key position in the new defense strategy against Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan of Mysore and he offered political asylum and the protection of to the rulers who left the Malabar in the wake of the Mysore invasions,
The group of some people who left the Malabar followed by the rulers who left early, reach in Kottayam and they find the peace in this land. They spread and located in different part of the region, The group of that people were including our respectable younger trade man Mr.Fareed (AD 1740 1825) the great Ancestor of Vettiyanickal family
He settled in the place were located South East from the capital of Thekumkoor , His new place known as Chirackadavu. That was the remote place & the major Inhabitance were Dalith, Nair Samudhayam and few Muslim families. He purchased land from a Dalith person to settled his family in the land of Kottyam. His wife was Aysha Beevi. All of the Vettiyanickal Family we known of today are descended from this great person.
